santee cooper Lakes
Tackle Warehouse pro circuit
February 26th-28th, 2026
Located on the Eastern part of South Carolina, Santee Cooper lake is relatively flat and has lots of shallow cover including cypress trees, docks and grass. When we arrived for practice water temperatures were in the lower 50's and all the bass were prespawn. The first day of practice the wind blew around 15-20 miles an hour with gusts to 30. This lake is extremely big and with those conditions you need to fish protected waters. So the first day of practice I spent the day in Jack's Creek located on the upper East portion of the lake. After a day of practice in that area that was unproductive I decided to spend my next two days on the lower portion of the lake. In that area I concentrated on cypress trees mainly and some main lake areas where I would throw a crankbait or jerkbait. Around the cypress bases I was throwing a bladed jig. This portion of the lake was slightly better for me, but still only getting a few bites per day. Day one of the tournament was canceled due to forecasted high winds so the full field was going to fish the final two day. On the second day of the event we had fog move into the area and we had a four hour fog delay. This had only given me about five hours to fish that afternoon before being due back in. I ran to some areas where I caught some jerkbait fish in practice and then transitioned into the bladed jig and threw the crankbait some. After fishing several different areas I still wasn't able to produce a keeper bite and ended up with a zero for the day. The second day of the event I tried a few different areas and techniques after a tough day one, but the outcome was the same. Still no keeper bass and another zero for day two. This proved to be my most difficult professional event ever. Never ever even catching a keeper bass in two days. The majority of the field that did well were using their electronics and fishing offshore brush for prespawn bass.
