Harris Chain of Lakes - leeburg, FL

Tackle Warehouse pro Circuit

February 6th - 8th, 2026

This was the second time I had visited the Harris Chain of lakes in central Florida.  Right before we arrived and for the first few days of practice a major cold front had hit the area.  Florida strain bass don't react to cold fronts well and it was one of the hardest events I had ever competed in. I spent the majority of my practice fishing Lake Dora and Lake Beauclair. In these lakes I was targeting docks and some vegetation. Most of the vegetation consisted of ell grass and some scattered hydrilla. I was fishing through these areas with 3/8 ounce bladed jigs. Mostly white but would occasionally change to a bruised pumpkin color. Once in a while I would work a jerkbait in and had a few bites doing that. The first day of practice I never even caught a fish and only nine over the next two day of practice. Going into the event everyone knew it was going to be extremely difficult and 50th place after the first day of competition was only slightly over six pounds.  This proved to be one of my toughest events ever, only catching one keeper a day for the event.  Both of the fish were caught on white jackhammers. This landed me in 134th place for the event.  Looking back, I maybe should have fished slightly slower in some of the areas that I got bit in practice knowing there was fish in the area.
