Douglas Lake - jefferson county, tn
Tackle Warehouse pro circuit
May 8th-10th, 2026
This last event we visited Douglas Lake in Eastern Tennessee. It is located in the Smoky Mountains and situated near Cherokee Lake which I had been to several times, but this was my first event on Douglas. It's a mountain reservoir so they lower the lake water level as much as 40' during the winter months. When we were there, it was still around 13' lower than summer pool so it really limited cover in the water except for docks and rock. The majority of the fish had spawned when we arrived, so I concentrated on points outside spawning coves. Bass were using these areas as they transitioned out of spawning coves and before they headed to the main lake for summer. My best approach was throwing a 6-8' crankbait on these points and areas. Douglas isn't known currently for large bass so a three-pound fish is a good one. I decided to spend my practice and tournament on the upper portion of the lake as it had slightly more stained water than the lower end. The first day of the event I had a five bass limit that weighed 9-7 and had me positioned in 91st place. As the week went on the fish started to relocate from these post spawn areas and head more offshore to their summer spots. I made a few adjustments for the second day but wasn't able to get any larger fish located and caught 8-13 which finished me in 109th place for the event.
